Sam & Dylan’s Scenic Moab Elopement
When I first moved to the west coast, I spent a lot of time in the evergreen forests and mountain ranges that cover Washington state. What caught me off guard though was how much I loved spending time in the deserts. And one of my all time favorites for an elopement is Moab, Utah!
I was able to capture an elopement between Sam and Dylan last spring, and it showcased all the best things this amazing corner of the country has to offer. They both live in Moab and spend their time adventuring across its landscape — creating art, teaching yoga, and making memories together. It was so special to see them share their vows in a place that has truly become sacred to them. I’ll never tire of having the honor to capture moments like this!
A unique elopement in Moab, Utah
Moab is one of the most breathtaking places I’ve had the honor of photographing — the deep reds and oranges of the rocks so easily inspire creativity, awe and wonder! This region is home to both Arches and Canyonlands, and the town of Moab is surrounded by scenic rivers, forests, and thousands of square miles of beautifully rugged land.
When I was preparing for Sam and Dylan’s elopement, I wanted to find a location and craft an experience that showed off all the best parts of the landscape. I was able to find a scenic spot and even design the florals! The monochromatic flowers and simple white attire (Sam’s dress from Salt Gowns was a highlight) were the ideal complement to their sweet, intimate ceremony.
What makes a Moab elopement so special?
The desert is often overlooked or written off as barren and desolate, but I wholeheartedly disagree. It has a warmth and beauty that makes you feel small in the best kind of way — reminding you of the uniqueness and individuality that each part of our world offers. Which is why I think there isn’t a better place to celebrate the uniqueness that is your love story.
