Idaho Adventure Session | In The Alpenglow
Something I hope couples that stumble upon my work know is that a photo session doesn’t just have to be around an engagement, wedding, or anniversary. There is so much beauty and value in capturing ALL the big moments in your life — taking the time to slow down, appreciate unique milestones in your story, and soak up the beauty of the outdoors. I loved getting to do this for Jenna and Matt as they prepared for a big move from Ohio to Idaho! And a portrait session in the Sawtooth mountains was the perfect way for them to reflect on their lives together thus far, and dream about their future in a new place.
Jenna and Matt ran in the same circles throughout high school and college, but actually connected years later through Facebook! I had a wonderful time getting to know them as we breathed in some of my favorite scenery. They’re wonderfully down to earth, enjoying all the best things about experiencing nature: walking their dogs together, hiking, kayaking, traveling, working on their garden, cooking meals, running and riding their bikes. I still can’t believe that my job gives me the opportunity to meet truly the coolest humans!
Planning the perfect Idaho adventure session
I was living in Idaho at the time, so I was able to do some location scouting and really show them the best that this area has to offer! We planned a shoot in the fall so they could experience the glorious changing leaves, and they spent the whole weekend in awe of the Sawtooth mountains: dipping in hot springs, hiking, and taking in the sights that would soon be their home.
An adventure photo session is an opportunity to memorialize a significant moment and turn it into a memory. I hope that these photos show you the potential for a shoot outside of the typical world of weddings and inspire you to capture your own milestones!
