Kylee & Collin’s Spring Session: Wildflower Photoshoot in the Wenatchee Valley | In The Alpenglow

Spring in Washington is truly a dreeeam. For those on the west side, it’s the first few glimpses of sunshine in months. And for those in the eastern parts of the state, nature comes to LIFE. Especially the Wenatchee Valley with its golden balsam root and vibrant wildflowers. And as a photographer in the PNW, I’m constantly inspired by the way this region transforms with the seasons, and Kylee and Collin’s wildflower photoshoot was the perfect celebration of that beauty.

Kylee and Collin’s story is one of those sweet, serendipitous tales you can’t help but adore. They met in high school but went their separate ways after graduation. Years later, life brought them back together after college, and their connection picked up right where it left off. Last year, they decided to elope at the courthouse: an intimate, spontaneous choice that felt true to who they are. But they wanted something more colorful and symbolic to commemorate this exciting new chapter. That’s where their wildflower portraits in the Wenatchee Valley came in!

When you think of spring in Washington, Wenatchee is absolute magic. The rolling hillsides, blanketed in bright yellow balsam root, look like something out of a painting. Kylee and Collin knew they wanted this backdrop for their session, and it was SO fun to bring their vision to life. I scouted a few locations to find the perfect spot—a hillside completely covered in blooms, where the wildflowers stretched like a golden sea under the soft evening light.

The day was everything we were hoping for: wildflowers galore, springtime warmth, and the most colorful scenery. The golden tones of the balsam root paired beautifully with the deep greens of the valley and the pastel sky at sunset. Kylee and Collin were effortlessly in tune with each other, and as a newly married couple, they radiated the “just married” glow that’s hard to fake. Every smile, every little laugh, every forehead kiss felt like a quiet celebration of their love.

What I loved most about this session was how present they were with one another. You could tell they were soaking in every second, and as a friend and photographer, it was such a joy to document their raw, heartfelt connection. These weren’t just photos—they were a way to bottle up this vibrant, fleeting season in both their lives and the landscape around them.
