Alaska Helicopter Elopement: A Glacier Adventure with Gracie & Ryan | In The Alpenglow

An Alaska helicopter elopement is abouuuut as wild and unforgettable as it gets and I still can’t believe that it’s my job to capture moments like this. Gracie and Ryan’s day was centered around pure adventure and making memories together — getting out into the kind of landscape you can’t reach on foot and fully experiencing it on their wedding day. Not every vow exchange needs to be quite THIS epic, but I hope it inspires you to think outside of the box for your day and really consider what feels genuinely memorable.

Why Choose an Alaska Helicopter Elopement:

Gracie and Ryan have spent the last few years living in Alaska, making the most of everything the state has to offer: ice skating on frozen lakes, fat biking through snowy trails, skiing, hiking, and constantly chasing new experiences outdoors. So when it came to planning an elopement, it only made sense to do something that matched the way they already live their lives.

An Alaska helicopter elopement gives you access to even more places that feel completely untouched in this beautiful state. Massive glaciers, endless ice fields, and views that don’t feel real until you’re standing in them (and even then, they take your breath away/leave you in awe).

Taking a Helicopter out to a Glacier to Elope

The day started with a helicopter ride that honestly felt like magic. Lifting off and flying over the glacier, weaving through towering seracs and deep blue crevasses…it’s the kind of experience that doesn’t quite translate until you’re there. It was easily one of the most surreal parts of the entire day.

After landing on the glacier, we spent time just walking around, taking it all in. No rush, no strict timeline. Just space to explore and be present in a place that felt completely removed from the rest of the world!

Building an Alaska Adventure Elopement You’ll Never Forget

One of the most memorable parts of the day came next. The helicopter team (the amazing Outbound Heli) had packed into small rafts, which meant Gracie and Ryan got to paddle out onto bright blue glacial water surrounded by ice. It added a whole new layer to the experience, something playful, unexpected, and just SO fun.

Aaaand I couldn’t resist jumping in myself. Freezing as all heck, but easily one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had.

Eloping in Alaska is an Adventure of a Lifetime

This kind of elopement isn’t about being showy or doing something for just the sake of doing it. It’s about choosing unforgettable experiences and sharing it with your love! For couples who want their wedding day to feel like an adventure: something immersive, a little unpredictable, and completely unique to them. If you’re the kind of person who would rather be out on a glacier than in a stiff and dated ballroom, I hope you feel the permission to say yes to whatever truly lights you up. And if you need a buddy and documentarian along for the ride, I’d love to chat. Head here to start a conversation!
