So far, this year has been better than anything I could have dreamed up. I’ve been able to rebrand this business of mine in a way that feels more authentic to who I am and the couples I serve — creating spaces where you can feel more connected to the outdoors and to each other. The first shoot where I’ve been able to showcase this new style was an incredible Jackson Hole elopement this past spring. Not only was this a memorable day with a lovely couple, it was a chance to showcase one of my favorite backdrops for your vows: the Grand Tetons!
Jackson Hole is truly an elopement dream. It has easy access to incredible views, lots of western charm, great food and lodging options, and it’s so easy to access for travel. And because I never get tired of recommending this place to my couples, I figured it was time for a full guide on how to elope here! Keep reading for my recommendations on the perfect spots for photos, the best times to visit Grand Tetons National Park, fun activities in the area, and even specific lodging options that I’ve loved. Why choose Jackson Hole for your Elopement?
Jackson Hole is an absolute treasure trove for anyone who loves being outside. It’s a valley between the Gros Ventre and Teton mountain ranges in Wyoming, close to Idaho border. The town of Jackson is a perfect blend of quaint pioneer town and modern city. You can experience the wild nature of the mountains while still enjoying the comforts of a boutique hotel with great restaurants and bars within walking distance. And speaking of nature: the Teton mountain range in particular is one of the more scenic ranges I’ve witnessed — breathtaking jagged peaks, glowing snow caps, unique lighting and shadows in any season, and the most amazing plains, teeming wildlife, and roaring rivers nestled underneath.
The Teton mountain range also inspired and was pivotal in changing my business name to “In The Alpenglow”. Alpenglow, with its fleeting brilliance, is the name for the phenomenon when jagged peaks are painted with vibrant color only for a moment — similar to these powerful adventures we go on together. Grand Tetons National Park Elopement
I know I’m harping on it at this point, but I’ll continue to say it: the Grand Teton National Park is remarkable. These mountains rise majestically over rich wildlife, pristine lakes, alpine terrain, and so much more. It’s less than 30 minutes from Jackson Hole, with countless incredible hikes right at the base of the mountains. It’s amazing any time of year, but if you’re wanting to easily explore and share your vows with ease — I’d recommend going between June and September. There may be some snow at the tail ends of that, but it’ll just be a beautiful dusting on the peaks and base of the mountains. Amangani Wedding
If you’re looking for something a little less rustic and a bit more swanky — Amangani is the spot for you. This world class resort truly has it all and would leave you completely in awe. It’s an amazing location for a more luxury elopement experience, while still providing those breathtaking Teton mountain views. And you can’t deny that their amenities sound pretty fantastic…spa, pool, and organized activities like wildlife tours or horseback riding. And one of the best reasons to pick this spot: it’s great year-round!
The Wedding Tree Elopement
Ok, the wedding tree is the absolute coolest thing. It’s a popular destination for adventure elopements, and for good reason. It’s a natural arch of trees perfectly framing the Tetons, and it’s even in the Bridger-Teton National Forest — which means it’s free!! Just a 5-minute walk from a parking lot just outside of the Grand Teton National Park, it requires no permit fees, and you can bring along your furry friends. 🙂 The best time to visit would be July through September, and I highly recommend staying at the Budges’ Slide Lake Cabins.
Mormon Row Elopement
Mormon Row is one of the more unique and iconic sights if you’re in the Jackson Hole area. It’s all that’s left of a thriving Mormon homesteaders settlement back in the 1800s. Located in the southeast corner of the national park, it’s now on the National Register of Historic Places! It is such a cool location for an elopement with its historic and well-preserved barns, gorgeous mountain views as a background, and super easy access (always a plus if you’re in wedding attire). I’d recommend visiting anytime between June and September for the best weather!
