Living in the northwest has opened my eyes to just how wildly diverse this corner of the country truly is. Towering mountains, rocky coastlines, alpine meadows, and some jaw-dropping desert sunsets. This part of the world truly has everything you could imagine. Buuuut every once in a while, my heart pulls me right back to the classics. Those moody, moss-draped forests that feel like they were pulled straight out of Twilight. For this session, we leaned all the way into that cinematic, Pacific Northwest gloom. Which meant all the soft light, towering evergreens, and the kind of romance that feels both wild and familiar. This Twilight-inspired engagement shoot with Hannah and Will was everything I love about photographing couples in the forest: atmospheric, intimate, and dripping with PNW magic. These two flew in from Texas ready to experience Washington’s famous atmosphere—and Olympic National Park delivered in every possible way.

A Twilight-Inspired Engagement Adventure in the Heart of the PNW

Hannah and Will wanted their engagement session to feel like stepping into the world of Twilight, and honestly…same. Olympic National Park is one of the few places where you can wander beneath towering evergreens one minute and stand on an enchanted lake shore the next. The soft gray light, the cool air drifting off the water, and the layers of mist hanging between cedar trunks all created the perfect backdrop.

We started the afternoon at Lake Crescent, welcomed by calm water and a moody sky. They unpacked a beautifully curated charcuterie board and settled onto the lake shore to share a moment together before the adventure began. This slow, intentional start set the tone for the entire shoot. Simply being present, soaking in the quiet beauty that makes the PNW feel otherworldly.

Aaand just when we thought the scene couldn’t get more magical, the sun peeked through the clouds in the softest beam of light. As if on cue, a pair of ducks glided by, framing Hannah and Will in one of my favorite candid moments of the whole day.

An Engagement Session Spent Dancing on the Shore + Wandering the Forest

After snacks and stories, we celebrated with a little dancing along the lake’s edge. Bare feet in the pebbles, wind tugging at their clothes, shadows stretching behind them as the light shifted. From there, we wandered into the forest, enveloped in the deep, cool green that only Olympic National Park can provide. Every turn felt like a scene straight out of Forks: moss-draped branches, filtered twilight light, and the soft glow of the woods.
